Managed Dedicated Switches

Improve the network speed between your servers with a PEER 1 managed Dedicated Switch. Use as a private backend switch to provide communication link(s) between servers and help you reduce bandwidth consumption on the public network. Or, use as a front end switch to aggregate bandwidth in combination with our managed Firewalls.

Private Backend Switches

PEER 1 can implement a private backend managed Dedicated Switch to give you private communication link(s) between your servers. This will also limit bandwidth consumption on the public network. A private backend network requires RFC 1918 IP address space bound to the private NIC (preferably 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255). You may request PEER 1 to bind private IPs to your servers.


Front End Aggregation Switches*

In some cases, PEER 1 can implement a front end managed Dedicated Switch that will aggregate bandwidth amongst multiple servers. Combined with a PEER 1 Firewall, the Dedicated Switch segments network interfaces between trust and untrust networks.
 
*GigE switches will be set to max speed of 100Mbit on any front end connections.
