Overview

The Sales Engineer will manage the sale of Peer 1 Managed Hosting prodcuts to prospects that call or email with requests for more information. This position requires a willingness to dream big and measure yourself against the best. Not just sales, but in all that you do. Responsibilities

  • Conference with customers to ascertain information to evaluate/qualify specific needs and budgets
  • Assist Sales Rep in setting accurate customer expectations through class and individual training
  • Provide preliminary solution and logical diagrams based on customers needs
  • First line of Support for the Sales Team
  • Provide the Sales team with training on product additions and/or changes (with product management)
  • Communicate solution issues with Sales Rep and customer
  • Write technical papers on existing products for reference
  • Provide assistance to marketing team in putting together information on the company website
  • Work closely with Product Management for pricing and product changes/enhancements
  • Depending on complexity of solution pricing may be given to Sales Rep
  •  Standard Solution- Standard Pricing
  •  Non Standard Solution- Budgetary estimates are provided.
  • Communicate Status of customer builds with Provisioning Team
  • Communicate any customer solution discrepancies with the appropriate departments
  • Leverage relationships within the organization to solve technical hurdles and foster awareness of our products and solutions
  • Escalate urgent issues that require immediate attention
  • Create and implement sales processes and policies
  • Provide updates/reports to upper management
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of the sales team
  • Participate in meetings and prepare training materials for product launches
 
Roles and Responsibilities with Customer
  • Conference with customers to ascertain information to evaluate/qualify customers’ specific needs and budgets
  • Explain PEER 1’s offering of products and services and how they fit the customer’s needs
  • Assist Sales Team in setting accurate customer expectations
  • Provide customer with a preliminary Logical Design of a possible solution
  • Support customer’s follow up questions in sales process
  • Communicate Status of Customer’s implementation
  • Communicate customer’s pre and post production issues with the appropriate departments as needed
  • Provide ongoing consultation to customers for upgrade and scaling options
  • Provide walkthrough tour of the facilities as requested
 
Roles and Responsibilities with Other Departments
  • Have pre-sales questions answered by the appropriate departments as needed
  • Validate unusual/complex solutions with the appropriate departments as needed
  • Co-ordinate tasks (such as customer migrations/upgrades) with the appropriate departments as necessary
  • Communicate design issues with the appropriate departments as needed
  • Identify gaps and common requests for product to Product Management
  • Work with other departments in the development of processes and procedures to be followed by the sales team
  • Provide information on sales processes to other departments as requested
  • Serve as the liaison between Sales and other departments
 
Position Requirements Education/Experience
  • Minimum experience 3 years in an Internet technology field
  • Experience with Operating Systems (Windows and Linux)
  • Knowledge of server hardware components
  • Knowledge of Internet Security and Networking concepts
  • Certification in one of the following areas: Microsoft/RedHat/Network/A+
  • Great communication, written and oral skills
  • Self-motivated, ambitious and goal-oriented
  • Effective listening skills
  • Business acumen
  • Ability to work well with team members
  • Management/Leadership skills a plus
