Run for the Lions

Peer 1 Hosting’s team in Toronto is working together with the West Hill—Highland Creek Lions Club and organizing the Peer 1 Hosting Run for the Lions.

On June 21, 2014, a 5k walk/run and a 10k run will be taking place as part of the Port Union Waterfront Festival. You can find all the activity details and registration at www.runforthelions.ca

All funds of the run, through registration and sponsorship, will go towards supporting local community needs. The West Hill—Highland Creek Lions Club supports numerous causes in the Toronto area including: neighborhood youth support, dog guides, global disaster relief and many community events throughout the year. They also provide several high school bursaries for community involvement and volunteerism.

The run is in its seventh year and this is the fourth year that the Lions Club is organizing it. “It has become our major fundraiser, and the major demand on our time. Peer 1 support has been a big help this year, when we Lions had less availability than usual,” said Paul Maguire, President of the Club. “We're very optimistic for the future. The run has become a staple or tradition for many families in the community.”

The West Hill—Highland Creek Lions Club was founded in 1944 when a number of men decided to devote their time to the service of their community. Their motto, “We Serve” is evident in all they do.

At Peer 1 we care about the communities we live and work in, and we encourage our peers to help out and get involved when and where they can. We are proud to support the Lions and all they do in the Toronto area—it’s the people behind causes like Run for the Lions that are making the biggest difference.
