The Map of the Internet has come a long way since 2011, when we first created the Map of the Internet infographic poster, to help bring to life what the Internet looks like. Since then, this project has taken a life of its own, accomplishing so much in its short existence.
It is our mission to be the most human company on the web, and the app is just one of the ways we’re helping to humanize the Internet. Since launching the app for iPhone and Android earlier this year, it has served as an educational tool for the hosting industry, academia and, more broadly, anyone interested in the physical infrastructure of the Internet. The app is enabling users to visualize the Internet in a fun, attractive and intuitive way, educating them about the Internet’s past, present and future.
Demonstrating how truly visionary PEER 1 Hosting’s Map of the Internet is, the app was recently featured in the keynote presentation at Cisco LIVE to visualize what Cisco CMO Blair Christie calls the “Internet of Everything.” In her presentation, Christie relied heavily on the app to visualize and highlight the connections and networks that currently exist, as well as how the Internet will look in the future.
We are very excited about the Map of the Internet’s rapid adoption; thank you for helping us reach 100,000 downloads! Haven’t tested out the app yet? Explore and discover the Internet today by downloading the app from the iPhone App Store or Google Play for your smartphone and tablet.
