It’s Monday, the 29th of Movember! On this day we find our Mo’ Bunch in their final hours of glory – but don’t worry – there’s still time left for you to pay respects to the lovely new soup strainers, handlebars and bottle brushes being sported by the men of PEER 1 Mo.

Ramon Vawda (Production Manager) Rob Station (Solutions Engineer) Omid Aflatooni (Accounts Payable Manager) Jad Jebara (VP, Finance & IT) Payam Chychi (Network Engineer) Rajan Sodhi (VP, Marketing) Oliver Jiang (Financial Analyst) Brenton Brown (Director of Finance) Kurt Jorgensen (IT administrator) Andy Prpic (Controller) Victor Swarovski (Creative Director) Matthew Manuel (Developer) Jason Mosher (NOC Manager) Paul Lu (Developer) Ben Kennedy (Network Engineer)
So far PEER 1 Mo has raised over $6000 in support of Men’s Health Research. Pretty decent results in exchange for the sweat, blood and tears so selflessly donated by the guys (and their significant others) over the month. “My moustache has been a constant struggle” says Solutions Engineer Rob Station, “but also a bit of a badge of honour. This is my second year doing Movember and I find the whole event humbling, as I really don’t like moustaches. That being said, growing a moustache for a month and looking kinda silly is a small price to pay for helping out an issue that doesn’t really get a lot of media attention… even though 1 in 7 men will have it in their lifetime. That’s 2-3 of the MO’ Bros!”
Movember is a two part campaign to raise both money AND awareness in support of Men’s health. All of the funds raised are donated directly to Prostate Cancer Canada and participants are encouraged to spread awareness of Men’s health issues – A recent survey conducted by the good folks at Movember.com found that 39% of Movember participants sought medical advice, whilst a further 36% encouraged someone else to seek medical advice after participating in Movember. “It is a good cause, and doesn’t require a ribbon” Says PEER 1 Mo Captain Jad Jebara. “We have fun with this but get serious results. BC Cancer foundation usually gets a % of my income and I saw this as another opportunity to contribute and have fun with it. ”
An important rule of Movember is: No earnest beards, stylish goatees or otherwise masquerading of the ‘Mo. We had a couple participants who thought they could rock their normal facial hair for the month, but movember calls for mo-staches, so we had to encourage proper participation.
After all this hard work, will anyone from the team be keeping their Mo for the remainder of the Holiday Season?
Jad: “NO, it is itchy like hell! My girlfriend hates it and I hear about it every day! She says I look mean and serious, although my two brothers like it, because I look like a tough guy. I’ve always thought about growing a moustache, now I know I will never sport one!” Rob: “My family and friends have been very supportive of my moustache and have donated to the cause. However, I am not keeping my moustache, although it kind of pains me as I’m like 3 weeks from curly ends. Maybe next year?”
PEER 1 MO has about $1,400 left to go before they hit their goal of $7500, so don’t forget to pop over to their team page and pledge support to your favorite PEER 1 mo before the end of tomorrow!
